What is this material’s footprint, and what does my assembly add up to?
Cradle-to-gate life-cycle impacts for 3,473 processes from the Federal LCA Commons, on TRACI 2.2. Search them, add them up into a product system, and watch five indicators move as you build.
Everything here runs in your browser. The impacts are precomputed cradle-to-gate, so assembling a system is arithmetic — each input contributes its quantity times its own impact — with no solver and no server. Nothing you build is sent anywhere.

Checked against openLCA on 2026-08-30: 6 electricity processes computed both ways under the same method package, worst difference 0.000%. Sample is small by necessity, not by choice: openLCA became unresponsive partway through a wider sweep, as it did repeatedly while importing the same data. Every process that did complete agreed to displayed precision. Re-run with lca-engine/compare_elci_with_olca.py.

What this cannot tell you
- You cannot open a process up. Each one shows a single cradle-to-gate number per indicator, not the exchanges behind it. Seeing which inputs and emissions produced that number — and swapping an upstream provider — needs the full source database, about 3 GB of JSON-LD, which is not something to ship to a browser. For that, open the process in openLCA against the same Federal LCA Commons releases listed above.
- Impacts are per each process’s own reference unit, shown on every row — per kg, per m³, per MJ. They are not interchangeable, and this page will not convert between them for you.
- Cradle-to-gate, not cradle-to-grave. Use, transport to site, maintenance and end of life are outside these numbers.
- Many figures are a floor, not a total. 1,572 of the 3,473 processes have at least one input with no provider resolved. Cut-offs are normal in life-cycle inventories — they are shown on each row rather than hidden. A further 168 have no computed impact at all because none of their inputs resolve; those are labelled instead of being shown as zero, because an unassigned provider and a measured zero are not the same claim.
- The library is a snapshot. It is rebuilt when a source release moves — USLCI publishes quarterly, the electricity baseline about once a year — and the versions above say exactly which releases produced what you are looking at.
